MSN 1180/MSN 1190 : FORENSIC RESEARCH
METHODOLOGY AND DISSERTATION
This course teaches the principles of research methodology and information retrieval.
Topics include research philosophy and objectives, literature study and review,
choosing and defi ning research problems and design, preparing and writing research
proposals, technical report writing (the elements of technical writing), types of technical
report writing, dissertation writing, public speaking (preparation and presentation) and
information retrieval (search strategies).

MSN 1280/MSN 1290 : FORENSIC RESEARCH DISSERTATION II
This course enables the student to carry out a research project of forensic relevance.

MSN 1802 : FORENSIC PRACTICAL
This course covers the practical areas of forensic chemistry and serology related to the
theory which has been presented in class ? examinations of glass, paints, plastics, soil,
hairs, drugs, fi bres, accidents and alcohol analysis, as well as body fl uid analysis (blood,
saliva and semen). Upon analyses of exhibits in a simulated case, students are required
to prepare a scientifi c and court report for preparation as an expert witness in a Moot
court.
